In the early 1920′s, Albert Tubman and his wife Jean established the Ashton Community General Store and a livery service. Ab became the local undertaker in February 1925 and conducted his first funeral on June 28th of that year.
In 1929, he and his family moved into the building that is now the Westboro Chapel. The original building consisted of two storefronts and rented apartments above. The family lived on the main floor and conducted funerals from the “front parlour”. In the 50’s his son Joe Tubman purchased the business and was the second generation to continue the tradition.
Today, Tubman Funeral Homes provides funeral services to all faiths, all cultures, all people in the National Capital Region through locations in Ottawa, Nepean, Carp, Kars, Gatineau and Buckingham.
